Description
Please note that these books are only available to University of Manchester students and staff.
ALL ORDERS ARE COLLECTION ONLY AND WILL NOT BE POSTED.
To collect your order, please take your email confirmation of payment (print-out or on your mobile device) along with your ID card to Room G15 situated on the ground floor of the Schuster Building. Book collection will be between 13.00 and 14.00 on Monday 29 and Tuesday 30 September and again on Monday 6 and Tuesday 7 October 2025.
This Second Edition is aimed at students taking a first course in this subject, although it will also be of interest to professional physicists and electronic engineers requiring a grasp of the fundamentals of this important area of physics. Basic concepts are introduced in an easily accessible context: for example, wave propagation in crystals is introduced using one-and two-dimensional geometries. Only when these basic ideas are familiar are generalisations to three dimensions and the elegant framework of the reciprocal lattice made.
