Cycle 'D' Lock - Gold Standard

Gold Cycle Lock

The subsidised lock scheme is open to students and staff at the University of Manchester only. Once you have made your purchase an email will be sent out to you giving details of how to collect your lock.

PLEASE BE AWARE – To qualify for the discounted lock you must register your bike on the free University scheme. For details please see Read More.

Detailed Description

A unique serial number is 'etched' onto the frame in a highly visible location. The owner/cycle details are recorded and entered onto a University database to enable our security officers to check bikes.

The relevant information is also entered onto the national property database Immobilise. The Police check this database when they come into possession of stolen/recovered property.

All you have to do to qualify for a discounted lock is register your bike for free on the University scheme.

Cycle Registration Form

PLEASE NOTE - The completion of the online registration form merely records the relevant information, your bike still needs to have the additional overt serial number marked onto the frame at one of the Bike Registration events to qualify for the discounted lock.

For further details of how to qualify for the discounted lock please visit the Crime Reduction Website or contact Ian Halliwell on 0161 275 2230 or email ian.halliwell@manchester.ac.uk

From the scheme launch date those who will be eligible for a subsidised lock will be the following:

  1. All students and staff who have either had their bike overtly marked with a UoM number and/or registered their bike.
  2. Applicants who have had their bikes marked/registered must provide the unique UoM registration number together with the purchase receipt when collecting their lock.
