National Graphene Institute

NGI

The NGI is set to open in early 2015, but collaborative research is at the heart of everything we do. It's the ethos of the National Graphene Institute, but has also been the mantra of our scientists since graphene was isolated. We are currently working with more than 25 companies to develop products.

The NGI will not only be the hub for University of Manchester scientists, but will host researchers from all over the UK – a world-leading centre of graphene commercialisation to take on the rest of the world.

The properties of graphene mean that it will touch every area of our lives. It is difficult to imagine an industry where it would not have impact. Our goal is to work alongside the very best. Those that share our vision.

The key is to take prototypes to manufacture. To drive projects through to completion. To see the impact this has on what comes next.

That is just what our Business Development team is doing right now with major industrial partners. No one knows more about how to meet the challenge of realising the full potential of graphene. No one else has more than 120 graphene researchers on their staff. No one has more real world experience. No one has more world class expertise.

These partnerships will be hosted by the NGI in its new building and on a proposed Graphene Science Park, developing production facilities, skills and jobs in Manchester and the UK. A Graphene City, in Manchester.
