Private University of Manchester Heritage Tour

Private University of Manchester Heritage Tour

We are pleased to offer private University Heritage tours for visitors. These tours cover the formation and development of the University, our significant historic buildings and landmarks and visit key sites of discovery as well as notable individuals from the University. Please contact the University History and Heritage Office in advance if you would like to arrange a private heritage tour of the campus for your group.

Our two private heritage tours are based on our public tours;

  • Making the modern world: England's first civic university
  • The rise of a university: industry, engineering and science

A description of these tours is provided on our tours and events page: www.manchester.ac.uk/heritage-events

To arrange a tour, please email [email protected] and confirm your booking with our team before proceeding with payment.

When emailing, please provide any specific requirements of your group, including any access requirements, the number of attendees, your preferred tour, date and time. Please note that our tour groups are generally limited to 20 people per tour.

We currently have two packages available for visitors:

Package 1: Tour only

A private heritage tour delivered by one of our University Heritage Guides. The tours are outdoors, and last approximately one hour. This package costs £4 per person.

Package 2: Tour with Booklet

This package includes a private heritage tour plus a copy of our award-winning book, Knowledge, Wisdom, Humanity: Portraits From Our Past at a discounted price.
